In 1992 L’Cars Metal Master Blaine Downer debuted our first Complete Coachbuliding effort along with James Reckert our master woodworker. They were responsible for the body construction on our New Coachwork entry at the 1992 Pebble Beach Concours d,Elegance where it won First in Class and was invited to be a Feature car at the ESSEN motor show in Germany. Blaine is a self taught metal fabricator though his mentor in the early years was the incredible Casimir Nawrocki. We have developed 4 master craftsmen that are capable of creating virtually any component out of any metal. Your project determines the process.
Auto Restoration calls for exacting attention to authentic detail. Custom metal fabricating starts out as a design concept on paper and turns into a wire mock up. This wire mock up serves as a life size model of the custom design, any modifications can be made and seen in actual size, something computer design does not allow. Because of our metal fabrication system we do not create station bucks or forming bucks for One Off pieces. This results in an incredible time savings.
For multiple piece runs such as The Excelsior Henderson motorcycle project where we built the first 20 sets of sheet metal forming bucks were generated by a CAD program in order to hold a close tolerance. Our metal shaping department tour will show you everything from our mallets and shot bags and shaping Head to our various sized Pullmax machines, Magee wire edgers, power shrinkers and power stretchers, 3 English Wheels, Pexto roller, Slip Roll former, magnetic brake, shears, Press brake, Power Hammer.
